March 24th- Home Group Questions

Key Scriptures: Jerry Root will preach a special message for Palm Sunday, so this week’s
discussion focuses on what we have been learning from the Book of Hebrews over the past
several months.

Facilitator Questions:
Themes: Review of Hebrews chapters 1-7
Start thinking:  Ask a question to get your group thinking.
  • What big ideas have we learned from the Book of Hebrews so far?
  • What have we learned about Jesus being better than angels and better than Moses and the Law? Why were these issues important to the Hebrew Christians?
  • What are the warnings in Hebrews 2:1-3, 3:7-12 and 6:4-6.? How are they relevant to the Church today?
  • How does the Book of Hebrews explain Jesus role as as our High Priest? Why do we need a High Priest?
Start sharing:  Choose a question to create openness.
  • Have any verses or passages in this book impacted you in some special way? What are they, and what have they meant to you?
  • How have you come to know Jesus more deeply or in new ways through this book?
  • We generally don’t face the same issues that prompted some early Hebrew Christians to revert to Judaism. What other challenges and temptations hinder you from pursuing Jesus wholeheartedly?
  • Pastor Rino challenged us recently to grow up spiritually. In what ways do you want to grow up? How can this group help you?
Start praying:  Be bold and pray with power.
  • Thank God for giving us His word. Tell Him what it means to you.
  • Thank Jesus for being the full expression of the Father and our great High Priest, who
makes it possible for us to be reconciled to the Father.
  • Thank God for giving us practical warnings and exhortations. Pray for grace to follow
obediently from a pure heart.
  • Pray for strength to endure trials faithfully and to glorify Him with your life.
Start doing:  Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • Reread Hebrews chapters 1-7. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you revelation, and act on what He reveals.
  • Choose a verse or passage to memorize. Practice it every day, and pay attention to what
the Spirit teaches you.
