Date: June 2, 2024
Key Scriptures: Hebrews 10:10-25

Facilitator Questions:
Themes:  Jesus’ priestly sacrifice, Sanctification, Forgiveness, Grace
Start thinking:  Ask a question to get your group thinking.
  • Read verses 10-14 carefully. What do these verses say about how Jesus’ one-time sacrifice was different from the ongoing priestly sacrifices of the Old Covenant?
  • Read verses 12-14 and think again about Jesus’ ultimate triumph over sin. Why is this the most important event in human history?
  • Verses 10 and 14-16 describe the sanctification that is made possible through the New Covenant. What is sanctification? What does it mean to have God’s laws written on our hearts and minds?
  • Verses 17-18 tell us that God chooses to forget our sins and lawless deeds and to forgive us, which makes further sacrifice unnecessary. Read Romans 6:23, and discuss what grace is and how we gain access to it.
  • Verses 19-25 teach us about our standing with God and our proper response if we are in the faith. What does the author exhort us to do?
Start sharing: Choose a question to create openness.
  • As we have been studying these verses, how is the Holy Spirit speaking personally to you?
  • What questions do you have about this passage? Is anything hard for you to understand or believe?
  • Read verse 23. How strong and unwavering is your faith? How do you protect and cultivate it?
  • Read verses 24-25. How much is stirring up others to practice love and good works a part of your daily living? What more can you do?
Start praying:  Be bold and pray with power.
  • Praise God for His absolute holiness.
  • Thank God for His marvelous plan to set us free from sin and death and bring us into right relationship with Himself.
  • Thank Jesus for being our high priest who sacrificed Himself because He loves us.
  • Confess your sins to Jesus, and repent of any ways you take sin lightly because you believe He will forgive you.
  • Pray for yourself and the whole Body of Christ to hold fast our confession of faith and to abide in the holy place within the veil.
Start doing:  Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • Read this passage several times during the week, and meditate prayerfully on what Jesus accomplished.
  • Open your heart daily to the Holy Spirit. Ask Him to deal with unholiness in your heart and grow you in faith.
  • Pray daily for the Holy Spirit to guide and enable you to encourage others in the faith. Be watchful and obedient to His leading.
