Home Group Questions- January 19
Date: January 19, 2025
Scriptures: Matt 6:11-12, 14-15
Themes: Daily bread and forgiveness
Discussion questions:
1. Read verse 11. Think about how basic it is that our food comes from God. We
gain sustenance and enjoyment from it, and we can’t live long without it. What
does this tell us about God’s provision for us and our relationship with Him?
2. How would you describe the depth of gratitude in your heart for God’s daily
provision? What are your expectations of His blessings? How does the rampant
sense of entitlement in our culture cloud your vision of His mercy and grace?
3. Read verses 12, 14 and 15. Why is forgiveness so important that God withholds
it if we refuse to forgive?
4. Why is forgiveness sometimes such a hard process? What steps can you take to
keep at it until you fully release resentment?
Prayer topics:
1. Spend time thanking God generally and specifically for everything He gives, and
for how merciful He is to forgive us.
2. Confess (name) any unforgiveness in your heart. Ask God to forgive you for
judging or withholding love from that person and to keep working in your heart to
help you forgive fully.
3. Confess any presumptuousness or sense of entitlement that would lead you to
believe God deserves to bless you.
Actions:
1. Memorize Matthew 5:14-15.
2. Spend time every day thanking God. Don’t be superficial in this.
3. Practice Luke 6:28: bless those who curse you, pray for those who disparage
you.
