Life Group Questions - May 24th

Ice Breaker: Share one thing that has distracted you from spending time with God this past week. What would it take to eliminate or reduce that distraction?

Discussion Questions
Part 1: Remember God's Word (2 Peter 3:1-2)
  1. Personal Reflection: On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your consistency in reading and studying Scripture? What specific distractions keep you from God's Word?
  2. Going Deeper: Peter talks about having a "sincere mind"—one unadulterated by error. What are some current cultural messages that try to distort biblical truth? How can we protect ourselves?
  3. The Martha Question: Discuss the story of Mary and Martha. What "good things" in your life might actually be keeping you from the "best thing"?

Part 2: Identify the Mockers (2 Peter 3:3-7)
  1. Recognizing Deception: The pastor mentioned that mockers don't always mock obviously—they twist truth. What are some examples of "Christian-sounding" teachings that actually contradict Scripture?
  2. Abusing Grace: Romans 6 asks, "Should we continue in sin so that grace may increase?" How have you seen people (or yourself) abuse God's grace? What does true repentance look like?
  3. Gray Area Sins: Pastor mentioned "gray area sin" that newer believers might see and think is acceptable. What responsibility do mature believers have in modeling holiness?

Part 3: Remember God's Timing (2 Peter 3:8-9)
  1. God's Perspective on Time: How does understanding that "one day is like a thousand years" to God change your perspective on unanswered prayers or delayed promises?
  2. Mercy in the Delay: The pastor said, "His delays are acts of mercy." Who in your life still needs to come to Christ? How does God's patience give you hope for them?
  3. The 53-Year Prayer: Someone at Alpha shared that after 53 years of prayer, her husband became the spiritual head of the family. What prayer have you been tempted to give up on? How does this testimony encourage you?

Part 4: Live Ready (2 Peter 3:10)
  1. Urgency Without Anxiety: How can we live with urgency about Christ's return without falling into date-setting or unhealthy anxiety?
  2. Daily Readiness: If you knew Jesus was returning tomorrow, what would you do differently today? Why aren't you doing those things now?
  3. Harvest Mentality: Pastor Rino said God wants to use us for the "harvest of souls." What is one practical way you can participate in reaching others this week?

Closing Reflection
Personal Inventory Questions (answer silently before God):
  • If Jesus returned today, would I be ready?
  • Am I living with eternal perspective or temporal focus?
  • What would I regret not doing if I knew He was coming this week?
  • Who do I need to share the Gospel with while there's still time?
