Life Group Questions - April 26th

Ice Breaker: Share a time when you encountered something fake or counterfeit (a product, an experience, etc.). How did you feel when you discovered it wasn't real?

Discussion Questions:
Understanding the Message
  1. The Reality of False Teachers (2 Peter 2:1)
    • What characteristics of false teachers did Peter identify in this passage?
    • Why do you think false teachers are often honored, respected, and trusted within church communities?
    • How does this reality challenge our assumptions about spiritual leadership?
  2. Living What We Preach
    • Pastor Rino said, "You are a false teacher if you're not living what you're preaching." How does this truth apply not just to pastors, but to all believers?
    • What areas of inconsistency between belief and behavior do Christians commonly struggle with?
  3. Sensuality and Greed (2 Peter 2:2-3)
    • How do false teachers use sensuality and greed to attract followers?
    • What modern examples can you think of where teachers promise prosperity or freedom while leading people away from Christ's lordship?
  4. God's Judgment (2 Peter 2:4-9)
    • Peter uses three examples of God's judgment: fallen angels, Noah's flood, and Sodom and Gomorrah. What do these teach us about God's character?
    • How does the certainty of God's judgment affect how we should live today?

Personal Application
  1. Discernment in Media Consumption
    • Pastor Rino challenged us to evaluate what we watch, listen to, and consume on social media. What criteria should we use to determine if teaching is biblical?
    • Are there any Christian teachers, podcasts, or social media accounts you need to reconsider following?
  2. The Pursuit of Holiness
    • Pastor Rino said, "I will trade joy for happiness any day" and "God moves mightily through holy people." What's the difference between happiness and joy?
    • What does pursuing holiness look like in practical, everyday terms?
  3. Checking Our Motives
    • When you leave church services, are you "pumped up" or "personally challenged towards holiness"? What does your answer reveal?
    • How can we cultivate a desire for holiness over comfort?
