FIRST FRUITS

First Fruits

Every first Sunday of the month at SOUTHCOAST, we do things a bit differently.  On this day, we bring our tithes and offerings to the Lord and are served communion as a body.  Then, at the conclusion of the service, we extend the opportunity to participate in a special offering where 100% goes toward various community or ministry outreaches, separate from our regular tithes and offerings.

April First Fruits: Black Sheep

Black Sheep's mission is to introduce Jesus Christ to the world of motorcycle riders, for the purpose of making more and better disciples through the ministry of the local church. With so many similar clubs and ministries doing such a good job, it was their specific burden to focus their ministry on 2 million H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group) members. They are a breed unto themselves, who often keep to themselves, allowing only other H.O.G. members to speak into their lives. Such a focus should not be viewed as exclusive (for all are welcome to Christ’s love) but rather strategic! Though they often find themselves ministering to other riders, it is HOG members to whom they give about 50% of their time and resources.Black Sheep is not only HOG focused but family oriented. They are pleased to ride as single adults, married couples and often with our children. Whole families attend their events and rides.

SOUTHCOAST  OUTREACH

The Turner Foundation

Although The Turner Foundation was originally established to serve the needs of the elderly, the Turner Foundation has since then expanded its vision of service to include five key demographics: youth, families, seniors, those with special needs, and those in need of financial support. Today, the Turner Foundation owns and operates two low-income apartment complexes – The Village and The Lighthouse – that have been transformed into family-friendly communities and now shine as beacons of light within the Westside of Santa Barbara, California. The Turner Foundation takes pride in its unique model of operating out of onsite Community Learning Centers, from which a multitude of high-quality programs and services are offered.  At the Turner Foundation, their mission is to uplift the community by equipping individuals with the tools necessary to be positive contributors and leaders within the community.

Royal Family Kids

Royal Family Kid's faith-based mission is to positively impact the lives of children in Santa Barbara County, ages 7-12, who have been victims of abuse, neglect and abandonment by providing life-changing experiences and creating positive memories. They accomplish this through a week long residential camp and their year-long club and mentoring program.
This year, we are teaming up with Royal Family to come together to build a playground for Pastor Woody Robinson's church in the inner city of Los Angeles!

Jesus Burgers

Originating in 2001 at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), Jesus Burgers is a missional movement that has organically spread to other cities and college campuses throughout the United States and into other countries. As a ministry of Mission Isla Vista, our vision is to bring the love of God to the college students of today. To date, tens of thousands of hamburgers have been given away, numerous lives has been changed, and God has been ever faithful to reach this generation through a simple hamburger.

Isaiah Project 58:10

The Isaiah Project is a SOUTHCOAST church home-grown ministry. Since 2018, we've been assisting teens in our community living with challenging home situations which may include poverty, housing insecurity, neglect, abuse, addiction, incarcerated parents and emotional or physical disabilities. We are able to provide healthy snacks, personal hygiene items, and with the creation of the Isaiah Project Closet, we are now helping to provide basic clothing items. As teachers and specialists refer students to us, we are honored to bless, encourage, and show God's loves to the students and their families!

Calm

CALM is the County-wide agency that helps families prevent child trauma and abuse and find healing when they have occurred. It began in 1970, soon after an infant died at Cottage Hospital because his overwhelmed, teenage dad shook him to stop him from crying. Since then, it has become well established in the South County and, more recently, in Santa Maria and Lompoc. In our area, CALM connects with clients in the Santa Barbara offices and at many preschools, elementary schools, Family Resource Centers and pediatricians’ clinics.

Benevolence

Benevolence (noun) - the quality of being well meaning; kindness.
Benevolence is a fund that we pull from all year long to help SC Members in their time of need.

Chi Alpha

Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship takes its name from 2 Corinthians 5:20 "We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God." One of our greatest joys is to see former students continue to pursue Jesus passionately.

RFASST

RFASST aims to care for and support foster youth, to increase retention of foster parents through sustained support to foster families, and to educate students about the needs of the community and encourage them to become future foster parents themselves.

Widows and Orphans

Widows & Orphans is a group of men who serve those in our church body and community who don't have the means or the ability to perform repairs and maintenance on their homes and vehicles.
These men generously give of their time, talents, and resources, tackling at least one project every month. The men who comprise Widows & Orphans meet every Monday at 7pm in the SOUTHCOAST Barn to support and encourage one another and plan their service projects. As you might imagine, they have a large backlog of projects to tackle, and our First Fruits will help fund those projects.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is touching millions of lives, one heart at a time. Since 1954, FCA has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high, and youth levels to use the powerful platform of sports to reach every coach and every athlete with the transforming power of Jesus Christ.
FCA focuses on serving local communities around the globe by engaging, equipping and empowering coaches and athletes to unite, inspire, and change the world through the gospel.

Community Partners In Caring

The Community Partners in Caring agency was established to help senior citizens that cannot afford to pay for services, lack family/friend support, and find themselves alone.  They are a volunteer management and training organization engaged in providing free non-medical caregiving services to dependent older seniors age 62 and over. Their mission is to provide volunteer support services that allow our senior population to live independently while maintaining dignity, respect, and quality of life.
